When you have been in the mold removal business in North Carolina as long as we have a pattern develops in the most frequently asked questions we hear from customers. If you have questions about mold in your house or business, some of them might be answered below.  Moreover, if we have not answered your question – feel free to give us a call or send us an email.  We will be happy to talk with you and answer you questions.

Can you tell me if what I see/experience is mold or not?

Mold is one of those things that is hard to verify over the phone, even when you give us the best description.  We always offer free visual estimates and based on what we see we can provide an estimate on costs to diagnose and remediate any mold present.  Due to our experience, we can be pretty accurate with a visual inspection alone, however the only real way to know what type of mold you are dealing with an it’s potential toxicity is to perform an air or swab mold test.

A home inspection identified a mold or water intrusion problem in my crawl space, how much is it going to cost to fix?

Every crawl space is different.  Some are easy fixes, others can be complex, and there are a number of factors to consider in the equation.  The fastest way for us to answer that question is to come out and inspect the crawls space ourselves.  The inspection and estimate process is free.

If you have removed mold from my house or crawl space is it going to come back?  What kind of guarantee do you offer?

Mold requires moisture in order to grow and propagate.  As long as the moisture intrusion is addressed and the fungal growth is removed, and no new water leaks or issues occur we will warranty our work for you in writing.

What type of chemicals do you use to remove mold?  Are they safe?

We use a variety of mold removal agents in our work and each is FDA approved, non-toxic and environmentally friendly.  Well, unless you happen to be mold. These products are safe for humans and pets!

Will I need to leave my home or business while you remove mold?

Most often, our customers do not need to leave their home or business while we remove mold.  If we are working to remove mold and seal your crawl space you can absolutely stay put.  Typically removing mold from inside your house or business is focused to a specific area and will not require you to leave. However, if the scope of a mold removal project takes up a large portion of your space or requires removal of sheet rock or other demolition, we will work with you to schedule the project in a way that minimizes the impact on your family or business.

Will insurance cover the cost of mold removal in my home or business?

We hear this question very often and we understand you really want to know.  Unfortunately, every insurance policy is different.  We recommend reading your policy and contacting your agent.

Can mold be the cause of health issues like asthma, allergies or infections?

While mold won’t cause asthma, it can certainly exacerbate it.  Also, some people are simply allergic to mold and will experience increased discomfort if it is present in their home or work environment. According to AllergyNursing.com

Mold allergy has been well documented. Symptoms can include runny nose, itchy eyes, wheezing, and skin rashes. Allergic fungal sinusitis is also a form of mold allergy.

Usually infection from mold occurs only in persons on chemotherapy or with diseases which may make them more susceptible to infection. Skin, eyes, and lungs are often affected. Aspergillus is the most notable fungus to cause infection (aspergillosis), but others have been associated with infections also.

Mold can irritate mucous membranes of the eyes and respiratory system.

Trigeminal nerve effects have been associated with mold, and have been reported to cause decreased attention, disorientation, diminished reflex time, and dizziness.

Volatile compounds (VOCS) produced by mold are thought to cause headache, attention deficit, inability to concentrate, and dizziness.

If you think you, your family or co-workers are suffering from mold in your environment we suggest a free consultation and/or air testing to determine the source of your health concerns.

How much does air testing cost and what will it tell me?

Typically, air testing is a pass along cost from our lab. Each test is $65.00 a sample and a $29.99 lab handling fee but it can vary depending on what type of test and the lab costs. (for example bulk testing is charged per sample, size, etc. and additional services such as rush are extra) Test results reports are very thorough and will outline everything in your air that is good, bad or indifferent.
